"In 1980, Carolina Herrera was already an undisputed arbiter of style: a Hall of Fame member of the revered International Best-Dressed List, an intoxicating presence on New York and Europe’s effervescent nightlife, and a devoted couture client of and muse to many of the world’s top fashion designers. But on a crisp day in April of 1981, she went from society swan to professional fashion designer in the course of one afternoon. Herrera’s official career debut occurred on the ground floor of New York’s Metropolitan Club, an establishment that had never before hosted a gathering as enterprising as a fashion show." —J.J. Martin
While still finding exclusive high-society enclaves, such as The Frick Collection, to transform into backdrops for her runway collections, Mrs. Herrera now does so with three-and-a-half decades of couture accomplishment under her belt. In honor of this milestone, longtime friends of the House of Herrera including Charles Miers of publishing house Rizzoli and Fabien Baron of creative agency Baron & Baron have come together to create Carolina Herrera: 35 Years of Fashion, available in October 2016.
A counterpart to Carolina Herrera (Assouline, 2004), which pulls from Mrs. Herrera's history as a society figure, Carolina Herrera: 35 Years of Fashion shines a light on Mrs. Herrera's illustrious design career. Through the sourcing of decades worth of fashion editorial by top industry talent, and two brand new portfolios lensed by Josh Olins and Gregory Harris for a modern spin on 35 archival looks, this book pays homage to "Queen Carolina" (WWD, February 12, 2016).

Mrs. Herrera's latest resort collection is a celebration of the iconic styles that have established her as an eveningwear expert. While honoring the past, Carolina Herrera embraces the chance to innovate and, in collaboration with Sweet, used the lastest in technology to unveil the collection on Snapchat to a new audience. Kiernan Shipka—the Mad Men starlet credited with "transforming the world of art, film and fashion" (W, April 2016)—brings a youthful spirit to gowns of towering tulle against New York's iconic cityscape.
